HIE-Bridge™ is offered through Community Health Information Collaborative, a non-profit in Duluth, Minnesota. CHIC is a recognized leader in promoting collaboration among health care facilities in the area of information technology.

Partnering with CHIC in the HIE-Bridge offering are:

  • ApeniMED is a healthcare IT company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. ApeniMED specializes in Health Information Exchange and federal agency connectivity using the Nationwide Health Information Network, empowering clinicians with real-time access to clinical data shared locally, regionally, and nationally.

  • The Office of National Coordinator (ONC) is an agency of the US Health and Human Services Department, which created the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN). The NwHIN is being developed to provide a secure, nationwide, interoperable health information infrastructure that will connect providers, consumers, and others involved in supporting health and healthcare. CHIC began working with the ONC in 2008 as one of 14 Health Information Exchanges in the development, testing, and demonstration of services for the NwHIN.

  • Stratis Health is a nonprofit organization that leads collaboration and innovation in health care quality and safety, and serves as a trusted expert in facilitating improvement for people and communities. The organization works to improve the state's health care quality. Stratis worked with CHIC in development of various measurements to help ensure the delivery of HIE-Bridge services have a positive impact on patients and providers throughout the region.

  • Minnesota Department of Health / Privacy and Security worked with CHIC in various governance aspects of the implementation helping ensure that appropriate privacy and security measures were in place and that HIE-Bridge exceeded the rigorous standards required in Minnesota.

  • The Social Security Administration (SSA) notified CHIC on February 1, 2010 that CHIC was one of 15 organizations across the US selected to work with the SSA to allow electronic query and retrieval of disability eligibility applications. This application builds upon the NwHIN infrastructure shortening the time needed to make a disability decision and improving the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of the disability program.
